Was looking for a couple of opinions on this dime. The Dime appears visually to be "Slightly" off center. I had initially had thought Broadstrike but after closer examination, a little more research, and a valued opinion of a member of this site. I am leaning towards a Misaligned die. The reverse does not appear to be affected and no design is missing off the coin to indicate something other than a Slight alignment problem. Ordinarily I wouldn't put this coin up for discussion because of it's commonality but since it is believed a 1959 Proof. I was curious if this is a fairly common issue with Dime proofs since the standard is allegedly higher on these coins I had just picked up a few coins as potential hole fillers and noticed this one. Am I seeing something that is not there (or) widely accepted. Nothing that I saw indicated something special other than a small MAD.
Your Dime is very interesting.. I can't make a definite determination. At first I thought that it was Misaligned because of the False Double Rim look it has. But it seems the same on the Reverse. If it is a Proof Dime I am guessing that since it is struck twice maybe there was too much pressure applied and it created that appearance that I can see. Some kind of High Pressure Strike issue going on.
I appreciate it, the pic is not of the highest quality since I snapped it real quick with the cell. Got a lot of the milky appearance with the flash. I am pretty sure it's a proof since the fields without the flash are pretty brilliant and have the luster to the eye. The coin just happened to have me scratching my head. The second strike makes sense as well, I didn't / don't catch the double rim appearance on the reverse. I appreciate the weigh in
