Just out of curiosity, can anyone cite an instance when a thief broke into someone's home because they got their name from an auction? I think the possibility is so remote it isn't even worth worrying about. You're more likely to be hit by a bus on the way to the auction.

    Ahaha, exactly

Plus, if you've just sold your $1M coin-collection, then chances are good that it'd be easier to steal one of your $500,000 sports cars that're sitting in your driveway!!

Regardless, I'm not gonna be using my real name if and when I unload my humble hobby (probably => from the Voldemort Collection)

For example, would you rather buy a Chinese coin attributed to my collection, or a Chinese coin from a dealer who mildly specializes in ancient Chinese? On the other hand, I don't think anyone would care if my Alex tet was mine or not.

    Definitely use a pseudonym.

I would have voted pseudonym but I don't have an option to vote in the OP. Perhaps I'm just too late to the thread to vote.

Hello Parthicus! I'm the one you've been talking to at CNG. I think the pseudonym was a good choice as well. Nice collection! Everyone here who is interested in Parthian should look for it in the spring.

Thanks for the input everyone, as you can see I decided to go with the Parthicus pseudonym. Although the risk of using my real name is probably small (my home would be difficult to break into, and all my valuable coins are in a bank safe deposit box anyway), there would be no advantage to using my real name. I'm not famous, either in the numismatic world or in general (sorry, those of you who thought I was secretly George Clooney  ), and anyway "Parthicus" sounds cool. Will coins from the Parthicus Collection have any added premium in the years to come? I have no idea, I will just have to let the collecting community decide.

@Ardatirion: Thanks for the kind words, I am really looking forward to this sale. The estimates are quite conservative (as I mentioned in our emails), but on the plus side that means the starting bids are extremely reasonable, so there's no reason for anyone with any interest in Parthians not to at least try a few bids. And, just to whet a few appetites, here is a tiny part of the collection, from a set of photos I took before sending it off to CNG:

@Parthicus, good luck with the sale. For your sake, I hope all the coins go high (except the ones I bid on). ;)
