I know it seems like Im always asking for expertise but so far yall have been spot on . This helps me learn new things. Being 70 doesn't really aid me learning from a book.
    Yall are my teachers.
    This dime looks strange. 20251210_220001.jpg 20251210_220148.jpg 20251210_220517.jpg 20251210_220517.jpg 20251210_221202.jpg 20251210_220647.jpg

It was minted by a worn die. It’s also a mis aligned die or a MAD. It’s silver so worth about $4.00. It has seen circulation and has a few issues from being handled like it had. It’s nothing special but at least it’s silver.

No you don’t want to clean it. It’s only worth melting value.

Slightly misaligned die, is all, I reckon. Not enough to make it worth a premium.

At least it's silver, and silver's been at record highs...

Worth melt value which is a lot for a coin they made over a billion of and you can still find in circulation over 60 years later.

You could safely clean that one if you wanted to. Yes, cleaning can reduce the numismatic value of a collectible coin, so you’re right to have been concerned about that. But in this case, as the coin has no numismatic value, you don’t have to worry. It only has bullion value, for the silver in it.
