What is different about the bust? Is it the bit of visible drapery seen on the two coins posted above? Are there differences of obverse legends which are found with the draped bust, or is it just a difference in bust style? If it just a difference in bust style are there many collectors who notice and value the difference?

    I don't know. Is it?

I'm just curious and wasn't sure what you were meant in the first post. Are you saying you bought the coin for a better price than you expected, considering the rare bust type? If so, congrats-- it always feels good to score a coin for less than expected :)

Are those first two images of coins the same coin? It appears so to me.

I just noticed that the coin in your photographs and the auction house picture below it is the same coin! Wow-- it looks so different now! Did you buy it from Hirsch in 2014 or was there another owner between then and you?

It is your exact coin. The surfaces look very different now but it is the same coin (unless they are casts?)

    When did you get yours?

I'm pretty sure it's the same coin, Ro.

I wonder if the auction house images show the coin with a heavy colored wax applied, which was subsequently stripped? Or maybe the surface changes were due to bronze disease or treatment of bronze disease. The letters you circled aren't missing they are just less prominent but so are the rest of the letters and features. The surface is now pitted and has areas of light green which might represent active corrosion :(

Are you going to treat the coin or have you treated it?

Do you mean the typical portrait on that coin is HEAD of Galba and yours is DRAPED BUST of Galba?
