In most cases the answer would be no, just a normal cent. BUT, the 1983D has been found struck in the wrong alloy, copper, instead of copper plated zinc. So my advice would be to save this until you have access to a scale that weighs in grams. The normal weight for this cent is 2.5 grams, the rare copper version weighs 3.1 grams and one recently sold for $15,000.00 dollars at auction. So best to save all these aside until you can weigh them. Tom

Your coin looks like it is plated with solder. I can see some bleed through, and the bottom edge looks like copper. Someone had to be careful in doing this as to not melt the zinc inside.

Me? Never! :) But I will admit, after my recent good luck with varieties/errors I had to put that in there about the major variety. I'm saving aside all of my 1983's now.;)
