That must have made for an awkward fit in the roll! Did the roll still contain 40 nickels? (Also, I have my doubts that that's a diamond-diamond...?)
There were 40 nickels in the roll and it is just a glass or plastic decorative piece. Might be from the Rhinestone Cowboy. I just wanted to have a little fun with it. I have never seen such a thing in a roll of coins.
A little Bling to keep you on your toes A little off topic, but... I was searching for a Cameo pendant for my better half on eBay about 30 years ago. I finally found one she liked and won the auction. The Husband was selling off his deceased wife's jewelry and this was one of her favorite things. Problems with the money order not getting to the seller ( postal truck crash or fire) I had to send another money order...I was out of town for the week when the seller contacted me about the payment not arriving. I had my parents send the seller another money order. When it arrived the seller sent the Cameo pendant to my parents house (that was the address on the money order) my Mom opened the package (it came in a burgundy velvet pouch) My mom said she like the Cameo pendant if my better half didn't want it A week later my mom was sweeping the kitchen floor and in the dust pan she saw a sparkle... upon further inspection was a 1ct European cut diamond. Only place that could have come from was in the package or in the pouch with the Cameo. I contacted the seller and asked if he was missing a diamond and he said not that he knows of but if we found one his wife must have wanted me to have it. My mother used the diamond in a custom ring and it's earmarked for me when she's done with it
