191? Wheat Cent Error

    Here’s a clever little error coin. I’ve never seen one like it…I assume it is a grease filled die on the last digit but it’s surprising that the “damage” is so acute. Any insights would be appreciated. Enjoy!

    Never knew that Lincoln cents were minted in the first century! Very cool greaser.

    I have a very similar example. I also thought the digit got clogged with gunk.

    The presence of VDB narrows your coin down to just a few possible years, or it is really the rare 191 VDB.

    A microscope with bright light may show the shadow of the missing digit.
