I'll post @Randy Abercrombie's beauty for him. It is NGC PR66★, I believe.

I've seen this one in person.

Nice! I didn't know that proofs were made as far back as 1793! Now I am wondering what the first proof coin was. I especially like seated proofs, but the price for those is just unjustifiable for me to spend. I just go down to Harlan Berk and get my fill of looking at their coins. There is a gentleman there that shows me coins which never cease to amaze me. The last time I was there, he handed me a $20 1907 wire rim with the original invoice (I took pictures to post here, but somehow they were deleted accidently). They normally have several nice proof Indian head cents, as well as the 3 cent proof nickels. If I were to buy any older proof, those are probably the most affordable and easy to come by I noticed.
Thanks for posting pictures of your coins!

My one, my only my 1899 Indian cent. May she someday gather a group of sisters. James

This is the only "old gold" Proof coin I have. The Type III gold dollars are the most common pre 1933 gold pieces in the United States series. The mintage was 207 pieces.

The old gold coins have always been priced just beyond my budget unless I was prepared to make a big stretch.

I sold this Matte Proof 1908 $10 gold when I was a dealer. The mintage on this one was 116. It is a lint mark on the date which probably lowered the grade to PR-65. I wish I had had the money to keep it, but that was impossible.

Here is a Mint State piece which shows the difference between the Proof and Unc. pieces.

Some lovely proofs here. My earliest is 1901 (I only have a couple anyway) so I'm out.

Here's my only one. I see them pop up regularly, but most people want way more than I am willing to pay.

I like that pattern, but, I do prefer the chosen design marginally more.

I like the obverse but eagle is a little punky.
