The 1204 Toledo coin celebrates the expulsion of the Arabs
from the region.
The 1374 Aachen coin is considered the first collectable early
dated coin.
Christ rising from the tomb while not dated is an important coin
to me.

 

I have but one.

 

I picked this up earlier this year. A Republic of Venice Italian State Silver 1 Grosso issued by Reniero Zeno, the 45th Doge of Venice, reigning from 1 January 1253 until his death in 1268. This one is going in my book.

Queen Mary of Scotland ca. 1544 billon penny, with an image of the Queen as a toddler. My avatar coin! It is a diminutive coin and seemingly insignificant if you are viewing my collection of Scots coins as a whole as I own other bronze, billon, silver and gold from this reign but this penny is by far and away the scarcest coin of her reign that I own.

 

This is an AR groat from Queen Elizabeth of England, with the mintmark of the martlet - a wee bird denoting that it was minted in London from 1560-1561.

 

England Henry III(1216-1272) a double struck reverse long cross reverse penny from Ion of Lincol - I surmise the planchet stuck to the obverse die and the minter struck the coin again, albeit at a different angle. Effectively it is my earliest double struck Lincoln penny!

 

George Godfrey in Salisbury Wiltshire had a common profession at the time - that being a rat catcher! - but uncommonly for the profession he had his own halfpenny token minted in 1652 the only known token issued by a rat catcher.
