Send me the name of that buyer and I will block him. I've had that problem on ebay too. All the buyer had to do is send the item back. Unfortunately there are dishonest people out there thinking that they can get something for nothing with there complaining to ebay and or paypal. Is this the cost of doing business?? Lets all block that negative buyer before he pulls another one of his dishonest deeds!!

Let's not paint all Buyers with the same brush. I have over 2,000 transactions on eBay, both as a Seller and as a Buyer, with the majority as a Seller. If a Buyer wants their money back (less shipping, if I charged shipping) I email them to send the coin back and I will credit them their money back. This has helped me maintain a 100% rating and some of those Buyers who returned coins have become customers of mine, because of the decent way I handled the refund. Are there Buyers out there who try and scam me? Yes there are, but I consider my time worth more than the hassle of dealing with eBay and PayPal on refunds, so unless the coin was a high priced one, I just consider it a cost of doing business. I've also noticed that more and more Buyers are not using PayPal and are using debit or charge cards.

I just received a notice from PayPal that they are increasing their percentages on a variety of different transactions. I think the best thing eBay did was to sell PayPal and start to accept other forms of payment. I know I'm not considered a "big" Seller, but I do well, overall, on eBay.

I tried U.S. Auctions, but when I found out that they charge the Buyer a 19% Buyers Fee, that told me why bids on my coins were getting either low bids or not selling at all. Let's face it, eBay is the easiest and in the long run, less costly way to sell coins online. The proof of this is, even the big name Sellers are selling coins on eBay and increasing the numbers of coins they list on a constant upward curve. eBay's business plan was smart, don't charge the Buyer a premium, charge the Seller. It seems to be working for them.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

Do you think that whether an item is a quick turn for a consignor vs. being your own stuff that you own directly makes a difference?

I only sell my own coins on eBay, I don't want to get involved with consignments. Having said that, I have listed a few coins for friends who do not have an eBay account and have been fortunate to not have any problems with those coins.

I apologize for telling OP to eat this one, I meant it jokingly, but I was 100% serious about opening a SNAD Ins company, Ins companies are VERY profitable. I don't have the capital, or I would try it.

Am I mistaken in my belief that there is a limit to sellers fees during a quarter? I remember reading that any sales above a certain amount were duty free.

There's a per-auction cap on final value fees, but not per-quarter. Otherwise eBay would lose their shirts with high-volume sellers.

The cap used to be $250 (corresponding to a $2500 sale price) for everyone, but in 2014 eBay raised it to $750. At that time, they left the $250 cap in place for sellers with stores. I think that's still the case, but they can of course change it whenever the mood strikes them.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I'll mentally note that I should only sell huge ticket items through them.

I guess my version of SNAD ins will be that I'm provided with the buyers address in case they give me too much trouble ;{p

From a business standpoint this makes PERFECT sense.

From a small time eBay seller standpoint, it's a huge bite to swallow simply because ebay is constantly pushing sellers to offer "FREE" shipping. Free shipping is ok until you have to pay for the return shipping from a "not so observant" buyer looking for loop holes to return what they purchased.

I'd have accepted the return as you stated and then blocked the buyer. I would NOT have aired this laundry on a coin forum nor bashed the buyer since it's a problem between eBay and PayPal and the buyer is only exercising his/her rights as a consumer.

If you play in a swamp, you have to expect to get snake bit every now and again.

    Just My Opinion.

PS: Your Neutral is a perfect example of a snake bite!
