just thought this might be a bit of fun, how about posting your favourite coin here and a reason to why it is would be nice to read too My favourite has to be the gothic crown,it was only made in 2 years. There is just so much going on in this coin. The lettering is mystic, the coin realy has no personal relevance other than the minute i saw it i was awe struck by its beauty. The queen looks beautiful on it too. This coin is a true masterpiece and work of art.I also have never found anyone yet to disagree that its truly one of the most fantastic coins theve ever seen. When i eventually feel i can spend some money on a never to be sold again purchase then this will be surely what i buy.
Here are a few of my favorites. Been a while since these were sold and haven't been lucky enough to find anymore yet.
I believe you could find that particular one at a coin dealer's, by the name of Chard, shop in the UK. As for what they cost - depending on condition - anywhere from $2500 - $5000. Almost forgot my favorite coin
yeah chards has that one and i can practically see his shop from my window . i think sylvester bought one not sure, the going rate is from fair about 1200 usd to au+ about 10,000+ usd
You did say "your favorite coin", not necessarily "the favorite coin in your collection", didn't you? Japan 1860-1862 (Manen Era) Gold Oban; Signed in Ink; AU with degraded inking; 112.4g, .366 gold (1.32 oz. AGW), 82x138mm. If anyone is interested, I know of a reputable dealer who has one for sale for only $20,500 - way below the low end of the 2005 JNDA catalog value - ¥2-million ($140,000)
Well this eagle is not on a coin but I caught some pictures of it at my oldest child's school's playing field.
This is not an expensive coin as far as price ,however, the subject matter holds a great appeal to me. 20 franc ANXI
I got two of those. I think one was the first bust/third reverse, and the other was the third obverse/third reverse. Although i haven't looked in a while because i've been concentrating on my hammered collection. But there's my 1693... And there's a 1694 somewhere too...
