Greetings, everyone, and welcome to my latest giveaway.

Just as I did in my past Giveaways #57 and #100, there will be a tiny bit of gold on the table. But before you get too excited, note that I do mean tiny! And this giveaway is limited to only contestants who have never owned a gold coin before. (If you have, you may still enter, but you must designate one of the non-gold-holding contestants as your proxy.)

To enter: tell us what your first gold coin was. Never had one? Then this could become your first!

If you voted Option #1 in the poll (meaning that you've never owned a gold coin), you are eligible to enter this contest. Simply say that you want this to be your first gold coin.

If you voted Options #2 or #3 in the poll (meaning you have owned a gold coin before), you are not eligible to enter on your own behalf, but you may post an entry for one of the folks who's never had one. Just name them.

We'll have the drawing on or after New Year's Day, 2026.

Here's the prize. There is only a teeny-tiny speck of gold here, but it's a fun conversation piece, and historical.

India (Vijayanagara Empire): ca. 1336-1646 gold bele (1/10 fanam) "World's Smallest Gold Coin", ICG

This is a gold bele, or 1/10 fanam. This extremely tiny gold coin of the Vijayanagara Empire, an Indian Hindu dynasty (1336-1646), is no larger than a sesame seed!

It is certified and encapsulated by ICG and described as "The World's Smallest Gold Coin".

(Note the amusing typographical error on the slab label: "Goin" instead of "Coin").

    Numismatic regards,

    ~Robertson ("Rob") Shinnick ("LordM")

I have never owned a gold coin. When my mother died at age 94, she willed a $2.50 gold coin to my daughter. The coin passed through my hands to my daughter, so I never owned the darn thing. It sure has gone up in value in the past few years, but my daughter will never give it up!

I bought a 1/4 ounce gold panda in a bezel that was promptly commandeered by my better half. :greedy:
    Screenshot_20251125-154121~2.jpg
Does that constitute ownership? :stop: If not she may still be in the running. :p

My first recollection of a first gold coin was a half ounce eagle when I was invited to be part of a coin collecting club system drawn up by a group of investment people and lawyers.
By system I'm pretty sure it was a type of MLM pyramid thing. o_O
Well that's what the .gov said when they Shut it Down  shortly after I got in the coin club.

Invest X amount of $ and get 3 other like minded individuals to do the same.
At which point when you qualified and enough time had passed a club member was given a check to reinvest for a half ounce 1986 gold eagle coin and 3 1986 silver eagle coins...
When enough members were involved and enough time passed another check was supposed to come around to reinvest in a full ounce gold eagle coin and 6 silver eagle coins, and so on.

It seems someone Allegedly got a check to reinvest out of turn and that caused some other member(s) to complain to someone who called in question the club system and the .gov got involved
Now with the .gov involvement, the club spending investors money on lawyers and bureaucratic red tape, caused the club to be disbanded AFTER the member reinvested the check but BEFORE the member was to receive the ONE full ounce gold eagle and 6 silver eagle coins. :(
That Sucks...the .gov claimed that the club was operating like, LIKE a type of MLM pyramid thing and at some point wouldn't be able to fulfill the clubs obligation to all the members.
The money invested was more than the coins were worth and deemed it a be UN sustainable.

In other words didn't like the competition o_O
Not political... Many years have passed and what do you know...the coins ARE worth more than the money invested

    On A Side Note:
Does anyone want to start a coin club :p I'm pretty sure I still have the startup paperwork filed away somewhere. :p

Best of luck to whoever you elect to post your entry for.
