LordM Giveaway #134 (your first gold coin?) Contest status: OPEN Drawing: pending; on or after 1 January 2026 Winner: pending Shipping status: pending Winner's receipt: pending Greetings, everyone, and welcome to my latest giveaway. Just as I did in my past Giveaways #57 and #100, there will be a tiny bit of gold on the table. But before you get too excited, note that I do mean tiny! And this giveaway is limited to only contestants who have never owned a gold coin before. (If you have, you may still enter, but you must designate one of the non-gold-holding contestants as your proxy.) To enter: tell us what your first gold coin was. Never had one? Then this could become your first! If you voted Option #1 in the poll (meaning that you've never owned a gold coin), you are eligible to enter this contest. Simply say that you want this to be your first gold coin. If you voted Options #2 or #3 in the poll (meaning you have owned a gold coin before), you are not eligible to enter on your own behalf, but you may post an entry for one of the folks who's never had one. Just name them. We'll have the drawing on or after New Year's Day, 2026. Here's the prize. There is only a teeny-tiny speck of gold here, but it's a fun conversation piece, and historical. India (Vijayanagara Empire): ca. 1336-1646 gold bele (1/10 fanam) "World's Smallest Gold Coin", ICG This is a gold bele, or 1/10 fanam. This extremely tiny gold coin of the Vijayanagara Empire, an Indian Hindu dynasty (1336-1646), is no larger than a sesame seed! It is certified and encapsulated by ICG and described as "The World's Smallest Gold Coin". (Note the amusing typographical error on the slab label: "Goin" instead of "Coin"). Numismatic regards, ~Robertson ("Rob") Shinnick ("LordM") ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ LordM Giveaway archive This giveaway is brought to you by Lily and Penny, both of whom crossed the Rainbow Bridge last week. They are missed.
I have never owned a gold coin! I want it to be my first! Edit- double post- we'll let your first one (Post #2) count as your entry. ~RWS/"LM"
@Shrews1994, you're on a runaway roll here. You've got my proxy entry also. I'm not even sure a good luck wish is necessary Happy Thanksgiving, to all!
