Wear-wise I think it's around VF-25. It has a pretty good rim ding and quite a few obverse scratches, but because it's an old coin and has an overall pleasing look, I'm going to guess it was net graded as F-15.

I think you are a bit too generous with VF25. It’s a very nice dollar, but I grade it F15… possibly CAC if the rim issues aren’t too bad in hand.

The lines in the hair are adjustment marks. there is a light mark on the neck.

Now there's a coin that worked fo a living, passing through many a hand.

    I echo Michael's assessment above.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

    WOW.

Just when I think I'm getting bored with all the generic stuff being posted and don't want to comment anymore.... you go and post something like this.

An absolutely beautiful, original, gem circulated cameo! This is the kind of coin people dream about. My only real quibbles with the coin are a couple of rim dings, particularly k5 on the reverse. Other than that, this is a beautiful coin.

I don't know the strike peculiarities for this variety (every variety is different!).

But I'm waffling between F-15 (a rare grade) and a full VF-20. I lean towards the 20, largely because of the strength of the dentils and stars. The leaves in the wreath are also particularly strong.

Congrats on a fantastic coin. (and please don't wait till Friday... maybe Wednesday?)

I am really liking the skin on this one, I had VF20 in my mind when I saw it. Nice original looking coin!

Nice coin, a couple of dings and on the reverse it looks nasty but still, I like this coin! I'm gonna agree with P&G above with his VF20, I could be wrong but F15 just feels too low for my liking. tmoney - Copy.gif

I’m at F12. Maybe 15 or 20 without the rim ding.

On the Sheldon Scale the coin can be up to 70, my guess is somewhere in between, duh. Have a safe and happy holiday season, and beyond. Thanks for sharing.

Physics, thank you for saving me the time to type EXACTLY what you already posted. Virtually word for word.

@ksparrow, it didn't take me but a fraction of a second to conclude I'd want that beauty in my collection every day of the week, and twice on Sunday. Coingrats on that beautiful specimen.

I'll also chime in with F15 to VF20. This type coin isn't in my wheelhouse, but I'd sure like it to be.

    VF25 in terms of wear?

PS- I should maybe say VF details, due to the rim bumps, but otherwise...

MS77 in terms of eye appeal. WOW! :wideyed::greedy:

It is sort of comparing apples and oranges, since my sole Bust dollar is of the Heraldic Eagle type, but by way of obverse comparisons, here's my VF30.

F-12 but F-15 on a good day. A stain or dirt on the reverse and several rim dings. Still, it’s a beautiful coin with lots of appeal. Can’t wait to see the grade.
