    Welcome to CoinTalk!
It looks like a normal 1979 clad quarter that has seen some wear and been in environments that caused it to look rather unappealing. I'd say it is worth a quarter. My children would say it's worth a gumball. :)

Not to beat you down much but it's just corrosion and circulation staining. Pareidolia. Worth 25 Cents U.S . Maybe a gumball for sure, love it!

I could clean it and give you a better picture but then I'd be beaten roughly about the head neck and shoulders for cleaning it. I know how that works.

I guess it would help if you said what you think it is?

Seemed pretty apparent in the pic, but if you're only reading and not looking at the added pictures I took the time to add .. then, I'd agree 100% with you. My up bringing taught me to always use all my available assets but I get it that everyone is not me. So for those who are picture blind for lack of better understanding... (And don't be a hater because I said that) ... But I'll type it out for you... The date reads 19797

Pareidolia Sir. Nothing more. Try some "acetone". Maybe get a clearer picture helps also. I see blurry to begin with....:smug:

I used "all my available assets" to know that the complete date was put on the master die starting with the cents in 1909, and by the mid 1980s the full date was on the galvano (master design). So... what do you think it is? I mean, considering my lack of better understanding and all.

No different than a RPM... Do RPM'not exist? Recently I believe it was a penny that surfaced with Victor David Brenner's initials re-punched so that the V was duplicated as VVDB.. How did that happen in you're rendition of coin perfection? I certainly can't explain it.... Yet... There it is. So... Since you clearly know more than me? How about you explain THAT one then explain also how mine could also be possible... I'm not being disrespectful... I'm only countering the arguments... That basically began as "Not to beat you down" ... Which I interpreted as "I'm about to BEAT you down"....

I asked a simple question. Of course RPMs and RPDs exist. You also have to know when something is possible to exist. If you think your coin is a repunched or misplaced date, it's simply impossible on a 1979 quarter. All the dates on the working dies came from the same master for 70 years at that point. So again, what do you think it is? To me it's just corrosion that you think looks like a "7", aka Pareidolia as @SensibleSal66 said.

I've been around for awhile... I've seen how questions are responded to. Its never congenial for the most part. But on behalf of the responders, that's understandable with some of the questions. But treating everyone as though they are idiots? Not a great blanket policy. But underlings are learning that here from their mentors... Sad. I don't post a lot, but I do pay attention.

Yes... It looks exactly like the seven that proceeds it, same nose with downward hook, some backside slant... Yet, just Pareidolia as your last ditch comments. And rather than actually discuss it? The next comment will be... "Well, take it in and grade it" so I ask... If everyone here refuses to discuss, or seriously look at anything and the end result is always a giant nothing burger that's topped with, "get it graded"? What's the purpose of the group? I mean... Honestly? I'm getting better responses out of NextDoor

What do I think it is? I think it's a group with a few guys who actually do know a lot and a bunch of wannabes who blow off in multiple directions wanting to be like the guys who are well informed, and who let the lackies weigh in untill they finally step in and make a judgement call which is generally the previous aforementioned "beat down" or informing the person to get it graded. So again, if you can't do any better than that? What's the point of the group? There is no discussion here, it's always a rain on anyone's parade whose posting hoping they have something and looking for experience. Seems there is very little experience here but rather a toxic cabal that awaits a post from anyone, anybody they can rip apart.... Shame on you all. Is that the vision you had when you built the group... I'd fire you all if it was my group... You gotta do better than just being simple aholes. See ya...
