Recent story about in the NY Times. I agree ANS needed to move from Manhattan. They are paying almost $2 million per year in rent, and visits are surprisingly low. Apparently, the Toledo Museum of Art has offered the ANS rent-free use of one of their buildings although it will need about $20 million in renovations. In the new quarters, much of their vast collection can be put on display rather than sit in a vault. But Toledo? Nothing against it in general, but a move to major metro area would make more sense. Chicago, Dallas, Denver, LA, Washington, Orlando and a few others would make more sense. These cities have excellent travel connections, are tourist attractions with lots of activities, and have numismatic connections. But free rent is hard to turn down … I guess. Mike
I read that article and it sounds like the best choice they had. What did the article say? Something like they predict they'll have more visitors in a week than they had in NY in five years.
