A new addition to my suite of obsolete bank notes. The missus and I spent time each summer for the past 15 years in Rockland. It's a nice town on the mid coast of Maine. We didn't go this year because even with a ferry ride from Orient Point to New London it's still an 8 hour slog of driving. This year we did a circle route through upstate NY. Albany to Plattsburgh to Clayton to Syracuse to home.

    I bought these yesterday at the South Dakota State Coin Show in Watertown 20251025_211146.jpg 20251025_211109.jpg 20251025_211037.jpg 20251025_211003.jpg 20251025_210929.jpg 20251025_210906.jpg 20251025_210842.jpg 20251025_210755.jpg 20251025_210724.jpg

Nice Rockland Obsolete $3.00 & VF Large size Treasury note @Tall Paul! Big colourful pick-up of World lots @Rushmore! The 1937 Bank of Canada $1.00 note has the rarest "Osborne-Towers" signature combo: I can tell you that $10USD is an absolute bargain for that one (what you'd pay for the much more common signature varieties) so you did well there.

This $20 from Singapore completes my set of their BIRD series (up to $50). I may get the $100 but definitely not the $500 or the $1000. Singapore$20_P-12.jpg

I thought long and hard about bidding on this note. I am not a fan of "details" and in fact this is only the third detail piece in my collection. The other two are half dimes, dated 1795 and 1800. Maybe someone with sharper eyes can point out where the tear repair is. My justification was two fold: 1. This note is the first $1 in the legal tender series and 2. As a non-detailed 55 note it would be at least twice as expensive. In spite of the details designation I think it looks pretty darn nice. I have been working a suite of $1 large bills and the legal tender series is very challenging. Anyway, I put in a bid and lo and behold when I looked the next morning I had won it.
