My first and only Coinstar reject coin was a 1943 Merc.

Meow has not found any silver in the coinstar in many years. Meow used to find them all the time. Meow does not know what changed.

Lots more people checking CoinStars? Or maybe they've re-tuned the machines so silver doesn't get rejected as reliably?

Yep that has be at least one of the reasons. Did you notice a huge difference if finding silver in that manner too?

I don't. I found a Mercury dime in a CoinStar a month or two ago, and I think it continues my normal pace of finding it once or twice a year.

Ten or so years ago, I somehow found out that someone had brought a bunch of silver dimes to the customer counter, complaining that the CoinStar wouldn't take them, and swapped them there for paper money. I bought them out of the register.

And about fifteen years ago, I found someone trying to dump jars of silver into a CoinStar. I don't know if any of it was accepted, but I bought what he had left - and that was pretty much what launched me back into the hobby.

Wow such an amazing score! Meow would purr Meows tail right off in such a situation.

That '43 Canada dime would be a keeper without the tarnish. These are a little tougher nicer than XF.

At least you didn’t have to clean the dirt off of them.
