Ok everyone, just bear with me as I feel the urge to show off. :mouth: Just wanted to share the coins purchases I made in the month of July. Note: two of these have been resold, one returned (the 1881-S #1) and one hasn't yet been received (the 1879-S). Go ahead and post your most recent acquisition(s)! July: .......
....... Might as well post my August purchases too (so far ). Haven't received any yet but am really looking forward to some of them. August Okay I admit it. I bought this one solely for the plastic. Let's see some of yours!
Here's the last coin that I bought, just 3 days ago! I sure hope that my wife enjoys her retirement once I'm gone....lol.
Hey indianhead, If you don't mind my asking, how much did that set you back. I am going to be getting one like that or better some time soon.
No, I dont mind at all. I got it from L & C Coins for $1325.00. I wanted to make sure that I got one certified and authenticated from one of the best TPGs so I went with PCGS.
That is interesting. My last catalog lists it (at least I assume it is the same AU-53 PCGS) at $1425. Have you got an in with them, or do they dicker?
Thanks Mike. I'd love to have a few more of these but I have to compromise with my wife now and take her on a road trip to Dresden, Ohio (Longeberger Basket factory) for her anniversary gift from me.
Na, its actually the first time I've bought from them. Their original price was actually $1425 but he said they had a coupon in their latest catalog that gave me the discount and the final price that I paid. They seem like they'd be pretty friendly to deal with on a regular basis.
Thanks DJ. I did something that I rarely do when I bought this coin, my rule #1 for buying coins and I broke it this time. I never buy a coin sight unseen.....until now. I dont know what made me do it but a great feeling came over me when I was reading off my bank card numbers to the guy.:smile
This is the last coin I bought. Nothing special. The scans don't do it justice though. It looks like there is wear, epecially on the eagle's breast, but I assure you it is an unc coin. Scans suck.
Nice coins guys. Glad to see you finally picked up that Lincoln key Indianhead. I just made a recent small purchase out here in Colorado. It's an 1807/6 Large Cent, the common S-273 variety. Although very worn, the date is clear and it is chocolate brown, which matters most to me.
Nice large cent Shortgapbob. I found one of those when I was a kid in our back yard. I dont remember the date on it, it was faint but it was there. Cant remember whatever happened to it though.
