The pop up adds have made this site completely unusable on my phone. I'm leaving now permanently. Sorry to say goodbye but it's really horrible. Barry Murphy
Wow! I just use a desktop and have NEVER seen an ad on here. That's another reason why I would never use or buy a cell phone.
We'll be very sorry to lose you. I've had to give up on a few sites due to the pop-up ad invasion. For this one, it's completely worth the $28 a year (or whatever it is) to stay entirely ad-free. Account Upgrades
Just a note: It's not like Peter and other site owners are working into the night trying to find more obnoxious ways to display ads. If you buy into an ad service, you get very little control over how they display ads; you can either accept what they stick onto your page, or end the relationship (and the revenue stream, such as it is). In the race between ad services and Web users (and ad blockers and malware vendors and...), site owners are pretty much bystanders. If there's a way to exert back-pressure on the ad networks without hurting site owners, I'm not sure what it is.
You don't need to go. All you need to do is install AdBlock for free. I know that site owners hate to read this, but I have no ads in CT on phone or desktop as a result. Other sites perceive this and either nag you about it or prevent you from seeing the site unless you disable it, but for now it works great on CT. I agree that before I did this, on my phone it was obnoxious. I don't need the constant attempts to lure me with cleavage because they think that's the coin collector demographic. It's pathetic.
That's what I use(Adaware Adblock) on my desktop and I never get ads on ANY site and it's FREE! It's as I said above for my desktop, but I didn't know that it worked for phone, but then again, I have no cellphone and never will. I've gone through 80 years without a need, so why start now?
Barry, my phone is the same way. I click on a topic and have to chase the adds up to the top of the page. I'm not jumping ship, I just hit the up arrows and use it as a dexterity exercise
I only view this site on a lap top or desk top computer. No way am I going to expose my phone to internet nonsense. The Iphone I own is made for one thing and one thing only. Communication (when needed) and texting. Other than those two things I use it for nothing further. If I need to explore an internet site, I wait till I get home and pull it up on my laptop.......
