I understand that the PCGS forum is active and I had signed up a few days ago but for some reason I can't post at all. I registered on 11/5 and soon after received notification that I became a "member" however the option to post is not there. Ironically, if I sign out I do see the button to post but when I click it I have to sign in and then it says I don't have permission to do so. I actually called PCGS and spoke to a person who said I would get a call back but no one ever did. Is the forum only for paying members or is there some step I'm missing. When I go into my profile I see my role listed as "Applicant" so I'm not sure if there is some additional process that needs to occur.
I know I am not paying for the privilege of providing them content. On my profile page, next to “Roles” I am listed as “Member”. I agree with Larry - your membership is probably percolating through their system, probably to make sure you aren’t a previously banned member trying to sneak back in. Or, some bot that would flood their system with spam.
They’re verifying your application. As part of that process an action called “server-side validation” occurs. During this process, all of the new data is propagated across all relevant servers for a variety of reasons, most importantly is the safety and security of their network. Usually this takes less than a day, with most updates to the system processed on an overnight schedule, but because this is the weekend and an upcoming national holiday there may be additional delays to what is normally an automatic and seamless event.
@dragonwalker Question for you. You have been a member on this forum since May of 2011 and only have 11 messages .. Seriously, What's up with that?
They may be getting extra careful with the approval process after some members ID's were hijacked and used for false sales on their BST forum.
@paddyman98 Yes that's true. What happened was back in 2011 I was working as a teller and posted a question on this forum about some Morgans that I came across. I've always had a more passing fascination with coin collecting but never really got into it partly due to money and wanting not to buy something where I didn't pay the right price for. Every few years my interests piques but this most recent time I actually decided to actually get a coin and I happened to post my question on the very same forum where I had my question 14 years ago.
Are you trying to post a new thread or only trying to respond to an existing thread? One of the forums had a criteria where you couldn't post a new thread until you had 10 or something "quality posts" to existing topics. Can't recall if that was CU or CCF.
Likely todays Cloudflare outage, which effected MANY MANY businesses earlier today. Cloudflare Says It Has Resolved Outage That Disrupted Parts of the Internet Even affected the tiny company I work for, took out out main website.
