I would like to know if there are any members of the Online Barbers collectors club. If so, I have a couple of questions: The Barber Collectors journal is available online with issues from 1989-2015 available thru the Newman Portal: are subsequent issues available to new members or did it end that year. The Liberty Seated Collectors Club puts out a monthly free online journal on a semi regular basis (2 months past due at this time and not unusual) Does this club have an online version too? Does the Barber society offer past issues of their journal for sale? Any information appreciated. James
The printed BCCS journal is still quarterly, 4 issues a year. Nothing after 2015 is available online. You may be able to purchase back issues, not sure. Email them and ask. The problem is you don’t know what articles are in which issue. I have about the last five years worth or so if you’re looking for a specific article. It would be nice to at least have a list of article titles for the missing years. It’s worth joining for $20/year to me for the journal.
@KBBPLL . Thanks for the information. $20 dollars sounds pretty cheap. I just have a personal situation that has to be resolved before I join any new groups or what not. The only articles i was hoping to find were the one's that would pertain to the most recent Barber Dime Census. Thanks again for your time. James
The Barber dime census on the BCCS website (http://barbercoins.org/Barber-Dimes-Census.shtml) was done in 2008. I'm not aware that they've done another one since then. I recall that there was talk of doing another and including more varieties perhaps, but it hasn't happened that I know of. Keep in mind the caveats in the description page - it only tells you what year/mints collectors have, not their relative scarcity or value. Their rarity survey might be more useful (http://barbercoins.org/Barber-Dimes-Survey.shtml). I don't know how they arrived at those R ratings though. If there are any articles about the census, perhaps they're in a 2008 issue? I haven't looked.
Yes I have reviewed the 2008 census. I just thought there might have been a more recent one. thanks for your answer. james
