With silver at $50 an ounce I really try to only buy small silver coins but sometimes you see something that just doesn't come along too often and you have to get it. There's a couple bigger ones in here but most weren't too bad, and they mostly have more numismatic value than silver anyway. Here's the silver highlights from my recent LCS visit: 1711 Austria 3 kreuzer. This one was mislabeled as "Augsburg" when I bought it. I don't really specialize in coins this old but I like the detail in the portrait, and it's in good shape for its age. 1748 Mexico half real. A mini, more affordable version of the famous pillar dollar. 1858 Austria 1 vereinsthaler. I just love the way this one looks. 1859 A Austria 1/4 florin. 1860 B Saxony-Albertine 1/3 thaler. German states are something that I don't actively seek out but usually buy them when I see them. 1866 Mexico 1 peso. This is interesting because it's from the brief period when the French occupied Mexico. This was the most expensive single coin I purchased but I've never seen one of these before. 1888 (I think) Honduras 25 centavos. I like early coins from the Central American nations. 1913 A Prussia 2 mark. This coin is in beautiful condition with luster that doesn't fully show up in the scan here. 1914 D Germany 1 mark. Same as the above, it looks like it was made yesterday. These coins really pop in this condition.
