I curse the day I discovered then researched PL/DMPL business strike Morgan Dollars.

"GreatCollections is proud to present "The Reflector Collection of DMPL and Proof-Like Silver Dollars" in our auctions on Sunday, November 9, 2025. There are 27 PCGS, two CACG, and two NGC certified coins offered, with 11 approved by CAC."

@KeyHunter, I went into the great collections site and auction. Some of those prices are out of line, I would check out other sites before committing to any of them. Thanks for the post. Happy and safe holidays to you and yours.

I agree wholeheartedly. I have in-shop want (hoping to purchase) lists on several dealer websites with Dollars I have my eyes on at much lower prices. My point is the POSSIBLE start of a speculative population-based value oriented pursuit for dollars of this designation.

Heritage Auction House has regular auctions featuring DPML
and PL dollars. These auctions are almost always exclusive to
DPML and PL. Easy to sign up for alerts. I consider Heritage
    to be very fair.

You're saying you see a bubble in these coins going forward ?

    Why ?

What makes you think so ?

OP's link does nothing for me. I've got to register to see what's being offered? How narrow of GC's......

I think this is only on Sat/Sun when auctions are ending. During the week you’re not required to login to view auction listings.

By the way, I just snatched a really nice GC coin a moment ago :) Sometimes, high resolution pictures are included, which is one of the reasons GC is my favorite auction site.

We are in the same non-winning boat. :p
I lost on the CACG PL toned 81-S. It went a few hundred more than I expected. :(

Would you say on average maybe these premium coins went 20-25% over FMV for PLs/DMPLs -- or more ?

I was willing to go 450 on the 1903 ms63PL which lists at about 550. It ended going for 475 (about 530 after fees) in the last seconds. Pissed at myself for not raising my bid to 500 right near the end but really thought I had it at 450... So actually went for just under list.. You never know with PLs some (like the 1903) are darn hard to come by others very common. It really comes down to the look of the coin itself.. bright frosty PLs sell for much more then the non frosty ones without the cameo effect the frost gives. So some like the 1903 i was after will sell under list while an 81s that's bright pretty and stong cameo will sell over list without a doubt.

It's frustrating to lose a coin you really like by a fairly small amount, but I console myself that I'm keeping my bidding under control. Sometimes that actually works!

That is a lovely Oregon! Since Phil Arnold migrated to GC from PCGS the photo quality has been excellent.

My example was a toning premium rather than a strictly PL premium (and toned PLs are generally difficult to find). This 64 PL is around a $200-$250 coin and it went for a bit over $1,000. Had it been blast white, I would have expected under $300.

Here is what I bid on:

And here is a blast white 64 PL that sold back in March 2025 for a bit over $255 (I found a CACG holder to minimize the holder difference aspect of the price).

@GoldFinger1969 I looked through some others and those dates haven't sold too frequently on GC. I did find one common date DMPL, an 1883-CC. The top coin in the below image sold this past Sunday. Compared to the previous most recent sale in October, there is almost no difference in price (and that previous sale was a non-CAC coin). Previous sales were about 20% less but again all of those did not have a CAC sticker (which does make a difference in the market).

Is that because a "blast white" is very likely dipped or altered ?
