Having never done this and reading some of the responses...... It appears to me that these will go live Wednesday morning at 9am and I need to be on the button ready to purchase... Is that correct?
9AM Pacific time, so noon your time. I would get in a few minutes before that and jump into the queue.
I got mine ordered, too. Just one. Here's hoping one of us in here gets a red core!! Good luck everyone, have fun with it, and make sure to post your results.
@Chiefbullsit has just posted the picture that says it all. Your coins will come in the pouch shown. You tear the top off and then sloooooooowly push the coin up to reveal the color on the slab!
How does it work? Lol, I second Randy! I jumped before I looked, I agree Buffalohunter, let's post our results! Can't believe it sold out so fast - 15,000 x $99 = $1,485,000. If they give away $1,000,000 worth of coins, that's still a tidy profit for NGC. I also hope one of us (or all of us, lol) get something amazing!
This one is a completely different release from all the ones I've been in. Yes, if you get a red core, then you know that you're in line for a gold coin. This is where they'll kill people with the anticipation. Apparently, they'll not release the "key" letting you know which gold coin you've won for two weeks!
So we just paid a hundred bucks for ours and Ebay scalpers are doubling the price two hours out of the box? Whoa.....
This happens with every release. I think @David Betts has sold a few of his unopened pieces on the aftermarket.
Giving up a tiny chance at a big payoff for a guaranteed one-and-a-half-your-money (after costs and fees)? It's a living, I guess. I'm still unclear on whether every package contains only a WTC widget, or whether some of them also contain a second coin. If it's all widgets, with some redeemable, weighing won't get you anywhere. If not, these resellers could be ready to keep the packages that weigh more and sell the rest. They do say unopened, not unweighed...
Every coin in this 15,000 coin release is a WTC Bahamian 1/2 Penny. The only differences being if you get an uncirculated example or if the core is red. Red core recipients will be in line to receive a gold coin, guaranteed. They just won't know what they are going to end up with until the "key" is released. To your point, weighing these packages will be pointless as everyone is getting the same coin. The only thing that will change the weight is if they're putting different cards and quantities of said in the pouch with the slab. I don't remember getting any cards in past pouch releases - only the boxes.
In that case, I wonder how many of the unopened bags listed for resale on eBay will have sustained teeny-tiny pinholes "during shipping", barely big enough to see, but just big enough to show color... Edit: Not that I'm cynical or anything.
