@kaosleeroy108 they were made by the Moonlight Mint...I'm glad you mentioned them as I had them listed as 1955-D, I'll change to the correct date.
That reverse strike is so crisp I had to go look at a couple of proofs to see if there was any difference. After a bit I did see something I never noticed before. In your photo, the surfaces of ONE CENT have a beautiful mottled pattern, just like the fields, whereas in a matte proof they form a smooth plateau. Of course, I know there weren’t any proofs in San Francisco, but I was really curious about how close a superb strike with new dies could come. I also took a look at my (ungraded) 1910-S to really appreciate the micro details about how those letters were struck. Again, they are not simply smooth but have a fascinating texture. Obverses always get all the attention. Thanks for making me see things I can appreciate even more.
Another more-recent unicorn Lincoln Shield cent that I couldn't resist when it came up at Great Collections. 2015-S Lincoln, Shield Reverse cent, PR68RB PCGS, Pop 1/0.
It's on the way, I couldn't help myself. They keep going up in price, They sold all the proof sets from the US mint. Anyone know how to find mintage number on these? My guess final numbers are going to be low, I got some rolls of business strikes P D , just to have.
