1974-P Lincoln Cent Coloring

    I came across this "yellow" colored 1974-P cent. Improper alloy mix?

    I can't speak for this particular year as having had a problem like this except for "Woodies" with a wood grain effect. The first original "Yellow Jackets" I believe were reported in 1998 on the cent. Some of the Wheat cents presented as brass streaked as a result of an improper alloy mix.

    It looks like environmental damage. Copper reacts with a lot of stuff floating around out there.

    I agree, environmental damage. Looks like it's been outside for a while.
