Thanks for your opinion I was also looking at the wider gap between the m and the e and than the initials
Not true, the close AM varieties are frequently not touching by varying amounts due to polishing of the dies. If they ARE touching then you know it is a close AM, but if they are not touching that does NOT mean for sure that it is a wide AM.
What are these worth if someone finds a close AM? Seems like such a trivial die variety the no one would care....
Not if the coin is a 1992 or 92 D cent (One of them, I forget which, can reach four figures in value. And that is four figures BEFORE the decimal point.) The OP didn't say what year it was.
They are quite rare, I've looked for the 92/92D CAM for many years and 10's of thousands of coins....never found one.
I still haven't taken this one in yet. The initials are doubled but one g looks like new design other g looks standard. I'm not sure how the initials are stamped dyed etc.
if it is I think this will be something that I will pass down. The peace dollars and LC are my favorite. I spend hours studying them.
I know, but @Conder101 is right, one of these is the crown jewel of the AMs, and the other I think is the second most sought-after (although I may be wrong on that).
