Hello all! It's "Wishful Thinking Wednesday!". Post yours also..... Ever since I started Metal Detecting and learning some about the coins that circulated in America, I've been fascinated and determined to find some of these examples. One bucket lister that I had was finding a Fugio Cent and although in very, very bad shape, it's all mine and represents a piece of history. Now, because they are rare, my Wednesday Wish is to own or find a "Higley Copper". I know, wishful thinking Sal! Hey! I had the opportunity to see and hold a genuine one that a fellow Detectorist found at our monthly meeting. Why can't I find one? I'm not far from Granby, CT. Okay back to reality. If I had the funds or if Santa was listening, I would ask very nicely for a low grade Higley. I'm not greedy. It's a "crude" coin or Token if you will, but very collectable to say the least. So, being Wednesday, what is your wish, maybe for the holiday coming up numismatically speaking? Ask @Collecting Nut. He knows how many more days until the day arrives. Here is some basic info. on the coin: From the NE Historical Society. I couldn't find that much on these coins. I think UCONN library has something though. I just wish for nice gifts from my commercial building tenants and my job bonus during the holiday season Every year is different, and it looks like many of the companies did well this year. So, I'm hoping for generous gifts! Even gift cards come in handy.. My actual wish would be to take that money and get the new Nokta Legend 2 sometime in February
The last Wednesday of each month some of our Vietnam Vet Chapter go to breakfast at a local restaurant. Today is that day. Last month one member, John, had a birthday. The waitress brought him a piece of cake with a candle. She lit the candle and said "make a wish John." John said "I wish I had a fork". Old men are like that.
At age 79 it makes no sense to keep buying coins, paper money, coin club tokens, spinner tokens, gambling tokens, etc. My kids have no interest in them. So, my wish is to convince myself to stop buying and just enjoy what I have. And also, world peace.
I have my usual lists od coins to pursue. Although I started my new collection last night. I already posted it in a different thread but here is the starter coin of my Barber set in old white ANAC holders.
For some reason I have had trouble finding the "right" 1924-S buffalo in nice AU condition. Oh, and a high grade 1869/69 Indian. And a 1942/41 merc in XF. Maybe...
