Hi! I have just recently started collecting the large British pennies. I want to have an album to put them in. Rather than use 2x2 flips in a three ring binder I was hoping to have something like a Whitman classic or Danco album. Does anybody know where I can find one? Or does anyone know if the large British penny is the same size as a US half dollar? I could create my own Whitman classic with blank half dollar pages if they're the same size. Thanks ahead of time.
Whitman used to produce British folders, but no longer do. Not sure when they stopped, but a quick eBay search yielded this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/9674-8003-G...865268?hash=item58d2175034:g:QuQAAOSwp5JWX1Ql Might be a good one to start with if you're not looking to collect a certain date range. That same seller also has a few more with dates.
If you are referring to the predecimal pennies of the 20th century then the diameter is 31mm. The half dollar is 30.6 mm so that would be a little too small. Instead of trying to match this to a specific US coin I would suggest just getting a blank Danso folder and looking for blank pages closest to 31mm. I know pages are available in many sizes but I could not tell if there is one at exaclty 31mm.
Thanks Sakata. I thought the looked close but not exactly the same. 31mm huh? I'll look. Thanks much.
Eureka! So this should fit my large U.K. Pennies? http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/whitman-album-blank-page-31mm.html
