[This is outside of any small expertise that I might have...]

I present for your consideration an 1813 Denmark 6 Skilling coin. Token coinage. Krause# Tn1 I believe.

But, what is this? A countermark? A counterstamp? Is it Arabic? Is it Klingon?

All kind wisdom and education will be greatly appreciated!

Your coin appears damaged from multiple hits with the same object. :sorry:

Is it possible the damage was already on the blank before it was struck?

I don't think so, Larry. The damage on SKILLINGS on the reverse was the result of the obverse being hammered with some object.

Klingon! I had this odd feeling... :p

It finally occurred to me that the reason this "countermark" seemed vaguely familiar is that I worked with some Hejaz (~1916) coins a few weeks ago. The "damage" on this coin is reminiscent of the Hejaz countermarks.

(Or, there is always the possibility that I should have just taken a Sunday nap instead...)

I've decided to put it in a flip with the note:

"1813 Denmark 6 skilling token with Klingon countermark."

If nothing else, it will confuse the heck out of anyone handling my estate many, many years from now.

    :)
