Anyone ever seen this designation on a coin holder before? What does it mean? My guess is it was found in a sealed roll that was originally send to the great State of Maine? It came up in an eBay alert sent to me for containing the word "Maine".
I'm not sure. I'm looking. The NGC Cert lookup doesn't show pictures of the slab nor gives any information on the meaning of Main Roll But it does give a value..
Well done @paddyman98, very interesting research. I learned something today, thank you for the post @geekpryde
If you submit enough coins under the bulk tiers (or negotiate it), they'll put something on the label. OP's coin is Generation 13 - Common. Produced Nov 2004 - Feb 2008. Commonly known as Gen 17 when listed among all NGC labels and holders. This holder has a mildly restyled front label and an all new large rear hologram.
I also only found the AI reference that @paddyman98 posted. You have to treat those with a grain of salt as some are way off but here it seems plausible that there was a roll or small hoard of these Indian Head cents found in Maine that NGC recognized as seen on this slab. It does not seem like a well known hoard because no stories are popping up (unlike the Redfield or Binion hoards that are well publicized).
