Well, time for a little fun and hopefully some finds. I found a Facebook marketplace listing for a collection someone is selling that includes some nice Silver and Peace dollars. I am meeting this dude at a taxidermy school, which should be interesting. With the recent silver prices, I need to do a little research. I attached pictures, but the photos of the dollars are lacking. Any advice or feedback would be helpful! 1343241063593771331.jpeg 7451757535730284988.jpeg View attachment 1689140 8023437389874048273.jpg 6737763591985582730.jpg 5398139253895598321.jpg 3547097282150344109.jpg 7220588290240295591.jpg

I think those are fair numbers. Not necessarily a great deal, but fair. And there may be some choice pieces on there. I can see what appears to be some serious luster on a lot of them. Are you planning on buying the lot? If so, I would certainly haggle with him.

I don’t know, but the prices for some are just a little steep. I need to take a good look at them.

Not sure if you have to buy them all or can cherry pick what you want. There are a lot of common dates in there, in not pristine condition and and priced pretty high. There are some nice ones for sure, but the photos make it tough. If it were me and it was buy all or nothing, I'd walk.

At these silver prices? Just remember all premium for the grade coins sell instantly.

Not sure what you mentioned. Are you saying if they are “premium” graded they will sell instantly. What specifically is “premium”, and if they sell at what price?

I notice 60 Morgan and Peace Dollars , and silver content alone it is worth $2250. I will likely cherry pick, but if I can get a decent deal who knows.

Very cool. Hard to say what’s what from distant images but could be promising. Call me a pessimist but when I see 2x2s I assume high probability that many called MS are probably actually cleaned. It’s why people get stuff graded if they’re willing to prove what they have and expect top dollar, but it is a hassle and costly to get done. Maybe there are some nice MS ones in there. Melts $37.80 a piece today.

Honestly I think I got a few threads mixed up. If the guy is selling them as AU50 and some are AU58, or even a shot at MS. Then you should be ahead. Premium meant that they have great eye appeal for the grade nothing else. I would offer something a little lower than what he wants and go from there.

Well, I drove over, and when I got out, some dude drove out from the building. I came in and was informed all 60 dollars at list price by that dude! Silver dollars obviously have a fan base. Oh well, the drive was beautiful with the fall colors….and my wife was happy!

That 2nd 1924 Peace Dollar really caught my eye. It is a blazer. Can't tell about the 1926, too much glare on the photo. But overall, just based on my experience trying to unload some circulated US dollars a few months ago, you can probably find less expensive deals. There are tons of them on eBay for less than $35/coin in 20 and 10 coin lots.

Well at least you didn't overpay :p
In this market AU is melt or $35/38
MS up to MS62 a couple bucks over melt to the right person
MS 63 if not a slider $5/$10 over melt if you can find a buyer.

I was blown away that dude paid for the listed price. It was a beautiful morning drive and a had a scoop of apple cobbler ice cream afterwards, so it is all good! Nothing lost gang!
