How long does it take for the mint to issue the newest medal for the current President? Waiting for the new Trump medal to be issued!
US Treasury stated that a 'A portrait of President Donald Trump may be featured on a commemorative $1 coin issued by the United States Mint in honor of America’s 250th birthday in 2026, according to first drafts of the images confirmed by the US Treasury.' It's posted on X somewhere .. I don't use X but gonna go check.
found it on X U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach on X: "No fake news here. These first drafts honoring America’s 250th Birthday and @POTUS are real. Looking forward to sharing more soon, once the obstructionist shutdown of the United States government is over." / X
I guessing it might be a year from now. Trump has been poor at making his presidential medals available. He really didn’t have an official inaugural medal in 2017. A medal issued by an Ohio Republican group took its place. This year the Trump inaugural medal is so rare that one political items dealer has listed it for $9,999,999 and then talks about availability when you call them. It’s been quoted at $2 thousand or more, and it’s ugly. My reaction was, forget it! The story is a small number of these things was included in a goodie bag which was given to some supporters. I have been a fairly serious inaugural medal collector in the past, but it looks like this one is a no go. I’ll post the first term Trump pieces when I get to my laptop.
If they issue a 250th coin, it should have some 250 year old criteria on the back. Un fortunately Trump will have to be on the Obverse, I guess. I hope it's not like the above. The 250th is to celebrate freedom and to keep it, not "fight fight", not a hand that was jacked off.
And that link I posted above didn't lead to one. I was just assuming it did and we all know what happens when we assume......(devil)
Isn't the OP talking about an inauguration medal? The 250th anniversary thing has already been discussed elsewhere. (IMO the design is hideous).
Actually he was asking about a presidential medal, which is not the same thing as an inaugural medal. Presidential medals are issued by the U.S. Mint on an on-going basis, at least for while these days. In the old days, before the 1980s, it was really open ended. Inaugural medals are issued by the Inaugural Committee in celebration of the ceremony. The mintages were limited to the inuguration period, and some them are quite expensive, into the 5 figures. Here is a presidential medal for Theodore Roosevelt in silver. Here is one of the two official Theodore Roosevelt inaugural medals. Here's the other one. And yea, this one is expensive, designed by Augustus St. Gaudens and cast, not struck, by Tiffanys.
That’s the first term piece. There will be another one for the second term. They don’t come cheap. The price will be $150 or so for the larger one.
Yeah you found it on X and maybe you should have left it there as it includes a political statement, way too political for CoinTalk unless policy has changed! Maybe there's no mod today, idk but what I do know is CoinTalk has always steered clear of politics and I like it that way. Again, if policy has changed, let me know!
Sorry, I was looking at the coin images, not really the text as I googled for that specific coin, not the text related to it. Too late to edit out the link/top of the image. .. and any presidential anything is political, although the verbage tagged on this one I can see can be offensive
It might be near the end of the term. The first Trump medal was listed on the US Mint website on November 25th, 2020. The Biden medal was listed in June 2025. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-c...es , Coin World, mark at the Philadelphia Mint. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-c...dential medal,* Published: Jun 26, 2025, 9 AM.
