I now have every mint used by Constantius II that produced Falling Horsemen except for Trier. I suspect my search will be long and slow.

    This penultimate mint is Amiens.

    Constantius II - AE2

Obv:– D N CONSTANTIVS P F AVG, Pearl diademed, draped & cuirassed bust right, A behind bust
Rev:– FEL TEMP REPARATIO, Helmeted soldier left, shield on left arm, spearing falling horseman; shield at ground to right. Horseman turns to face the soldier, and reaches his left arm up towards him. He is bare headed
Minted in Amiens (//AMB). 353 AD.
Reference:- RIC VIII Amiens 48 (C)

    22 mm, 5.08g

    Ex John Casey Collection

John was employed at Durham between 1972 and 2000, retiring as Reader in Archaeology. He was a well-known Romanist and numismatics scholar who undertook excavations at the Roman forts of Brecon Gaer (nr Aberyscir) and Segontium (Gwynedd), the Roman town of Venta Silurum (Caerwent), the Roman temple at Lydney (Gloucestershire) and the Greta Bridge vicus in County Durham.

His books included Coins and the Archaeologist (1974, 2nd ed. 1988), The end of Roman Britain (1979), Roman coinage in Britain (1980), Understanding Ancient Coins (1986). He was the author of numerous articles on Roman coinage and hoards, including the finds from Piercebridge.

Congrats! Thats a very cool addition Martin. Im a little jealous of this one but happy for you. I personally have never seen an Amiens FH for sale online and though Doug may or may not agree, I think Amiens is the hardest to find. I got mine from the local shop and had traded it to Doug, but he traded it back thankfully :D I have however have seen several Trier FH for sale, so Im sure you'll get one soon.

    Here is my example Amiens:

Interesting coin and admirable quest. I myself am one mint away from completing my mint cities quest for the so-called "barbarian and hut" cententionalis of Constans. Arles is the pesky holdout.

    This one so far.....

I managed to complete that quest last year. A little patience makes it eminently achievable/ Completing it for Constantius II.

Arles was relatively early for me in that quest.

Trier was my last mint for that series too.

Fine specimens all. I was ardently collecting hut coins ca. 2005 and then went through a fallow period in my collecting and have only recently gotten serious again. When I came back, I noticed that Bill Welch, who put together all of those wonderful Forum pages on the hut coins, was selling off his collection, and he was kind enough to cut me a deal on issues from Rome, Lyons, and Trier. I also picked up an Alexandria issue off eBay from @Victor_Clark. Arelatum, however, remains elusive.
