So these were at a pawn shop today, A 20% off spot sale, should I buy them? I understand they are terrible pics, I haven't shot a coin with my cell in a while. These would be the first Golds that I buy, Does anything stand out as fake? I checked mm positioning against Photo grade, stars etc. they look real in hand, good surfaces, hardly marked. just some wear on the High points.
I think they look real, but cleaned in the past. So I would not call them AU, maybe XF-45 Details. But 20% off spot sounds good to me
Half a $5, of course. A bit under $150 -- but "20% off spot sale" isn't the phrasing I'd use, simply because "% off spot" grabs the focus a lot more than "spot sale" does.
I think that Grade is the only thing that matters here. they usually put them up around spot. But I can see how easily I was confused. At vg grade I cant hardly miss. Thanks for the spot price. @-jeffB
Can you post that site, I am usually a silver kind of guy. Any gold that looks good is usually to over priced.
Here ya go http://www.coinflation.com/gold_coin_values.html http://www.coinflation.com/silver_coin_values.html
You just won't find quarter-eagles near spot price, at least not at current gold prices. Even cleaned or damaged, they still carry a numismatic premium. If you're hoping to profit from a rise in gold prices, you'll do better with half-eagles or eagles.
I believe you'll find that price is approximately spot + 48%/coin, with the condition appearing to be AU Details technical grading. JMHO
Seems like i paid about $300 the one and only time i purchased a 2.50 Indian. Cant remember what spot was @ the time. That coin was probably xf at best , and of course it was the 1st coin to go, when i got into a bind. Its your $$ but i can think of a whole list of coins id rather have including but not limited to- (all slabbed btw) MS63- Standing Lib Quarter Ms63- 8tf morgan MS63 - better date Morgan Ms63DMPL Morgan common date MS66 Morgan common date Ms63/4 barber dime Proof IHC Proof V nickel Extremely nice toner Morgan or Nickel (& thats just off the top of my head) But IF (and i think u could) you could flip those and make $20- $50 a whack, THEN buy something u REALLY want But thats just me
