After some thought I have decided to give this coin it's own thread rather than piggyback on to the recent FH Barb thread.

    https://www.cointalk.com/threads/a-really-bad-fh-but-a-nice-one.290616/

This one was also in my mixed LRB lot.

Constantius II - AE3 - Barbarous imitation of Falling Horseman

Obv:- CONSTANTIVS AVG, Pearl diaidemed, draped and cuirassed bust right
Rev:– FEL TEMP REPARATIO, Helmeted soldier left, shield on left arm, spearing falling horseman; shield at ground to right. Horseman turns to face the soldier, and reaches his left arm up towards him. He is bare headed
Copies a coin minted in Cyzicus (//SMK)

    Remarkably good style

    2.07 gms. 19.16 gms.

I don't generally like barbarous imitations, but this is an exception. Nice.

    Bing,
I know what you mean. My only other barb of the type is a bit of a horror.

    Constantius II - AE4

Obv:- DN IIIII, Pearl diaidemed, draped and cuirassed bust right
Rev:– [FEL TE]M -P[ REPARATIO], Helmeted soldier left, shield on left arm, spearing falling horseman; shield at ground to right. Horseman turns to face the soldier, and reaches his left arm up towards him. He wears a phrygian cap

Some Barbarous imitations looks pretty neat. Never seen a falling horseman one until now.

LOL, the concept of a barbarous Fallen Horseman is a conundrum... :D
