I've owned this bill for eons, never looked at the back. Printed as souvenirs by the Grand Commandery of Georgia, Knights Templar, Boston 1895. Good stuff, especially if you are a rebel (like me). Commandery of 001.jpg

    That IS neat!

I'm a native born Southerner, but wouldn't call myself a "rebel" by any stretch of the imagination (with or without the capital letter).

I had one ancestor who was a colonel in the Civil War (later a general).

    He wore blue.

My g-grandfather may have attended the conclave in Boston in 1895, along with his son-in-law, both Knights Templars. He left a bunch of old bills as well as hundreds of coins. I've only had them for about 30 yrs; am just going through the stuff!

Great note! After the Civil War there were stacks of these lying around, since they were considered worthless at the time. There are many instances over the next few decades where advertising was printed on CSA notes and they were given out as gimmicks. They certainly are eye-catching!
