How is this a PR-68 DCAM?

I wonder how many of the same coins dealers send in.

If a dealer sends in, say, 1,000 of the same coin (not sure what the typical amount is), I wonder how much quicker graders go through that stack compared to other coins.

I'm going with gouges on the coin. Take a look at the consistency of the ding just above the baseline serif in the stem of the "L" in all 5 pictures.

No proof, just correlation, similar to politics. You can't really prove something that's done with a wink and a nod.

 

If there was proof the TPG's would be out of business. The evidence is brought forth all the time though. Just look through the Heritage Auctions and look at the coins that were owned and sold by Heritage. There have been an overwhelming number of them that appear to have gotten the grade that none of mine would ever have. It can't be proven, but the coins don't lie.

 

Yes that has to be it. Couldn't be that you guys aren't world class graders in every series, or that their pictures need work, or that grading from pictures isn't an absolute, and they actually didn't submit every coin that way anyway. The list can go on and on but sure its all corruption...

What the average chucklehead doesn't stop to take into account is that the stuff that comes from Heritage's submissions that DON'T get ridiculously high grades get wholesaled out and never end up in the big glossy catalog. You're only seeing the crème de la crème.

 

So it's all just coincidence, gotcha...

 

Coincidence of what? That a major auction house has a lot of coins?

 

No, it's mathematics. When I get 10% of my submission with a grade way higher than I imagined, and I do get about that many, it's a couple of coins. When Heritage does it, it fills a catalog.

 

Did the scratch happen after the grader had given his/her classification. Could the coin have been mishandled and scratched by a holder while being placed inside the holder or maybe scratched by a foreign object on the table? I don't know how clean they are kept when in a rush like for an example a large show ie FUN?

 

What scratches ? I don't see any scratches.

 

I think you might want to think about your math. Your telling me that Heritage sells only 10% of the their submissions in their own auctions and wholesales off the other 90% out the back door? Yeah that makes a lot more sense, especially from a business stand point. You and I won't agree on much, and I will leave it at that. I'm sure you'll try to get the last word in as usual which is fine. But, you'll never change my mind nor a lot of other people's minds.

 

Just curious. You make a very bold statement. Just who are you, which service do you use, who do you know, and what do you know. Or...is this more of the typical crap I'm exposed to from the uninformed? Please let us know the circumstances you base your post on.

What a ridiculous post! I guess if I were to grade the coin PR-63 or 64 you would call that "Like a No-Grade" also. While this coin is over graded and not worth 69 or 70 money, it still has a value to someone who would rather own a PR-65 rather than a PR-63 or a PR-60.
