So... in my visit to the LCS today, I got to take a very close look at a '64 large motto 2-cent piece. It has a very clearly repunched date that doesn't match any of the pcgs listings. The doubling is very apparent on the 4, but also on the 6. Edit: The 4 is doubled so much that there is a 2nd crossbar.

I'm having a difficult time locating anything resembling this RPD, so I thought I'd ask here if there are other RPD varieties that PCGS doesn't list. If I had to guess a grade, I'd venture to say it's a MS-63RB so it's not like it's some silly PMD. Anyways, what's the verdict on these RPD varieties? Only 4 for 1864 LM?

Too bad that you don't have any pics, do you? o_O
I think it has to be the 6 and the 4 though.

No, wasn't able to get any pictures. But I'm considering going back tomorrow to see if I can make an offer for it that exceeds the greysheet listing. Maybe then I can get him more motivated to sell it?

Edit: greysheet listing for MS-63RB, not taking into account the RPD

Edit again: I rarely visit on a Saturday, so that's going to hopefully be a noticeable difference. Not likely, but a guy can hope, right?:shame:

If memory serves, there are more than one 1864 copper coin which has a repunched date. I had an Indian cent that showed in high school. I’ll see what I can find in my books tomorrow.

I've tried matching it up with the four listed RPD's for the 1864 LM and couldn't get a match.

Okay. No match= No deal. Sorry. Maybe someone has something else to say.
