I can't comment about the description and I am not a currency expert by any measure, but that bill in the sellers photo looks PAH. (Phony as heck). Happy collecting!
I'd forgotten about the "duplicate serial numbers" thing. If I remember correctly, each note's worth only face value on its own, but if you come into possession of two notes with the same serial, you've hit the jackpot. That makes it hard to figure out how to value these. I assume the seller is offering single notes, and I don't see any reason to doubt that they're authentic. But I'm not a currency guy.
What i took from the post is that this person has $2 bills that match the serial numbers from 2013 B star notes. If I have learned correctly, the 2013 B star notes (from certain serial number to certain serial number) are already duplicates. My question is...is it possible that a different denomination, $2 notes, can have the same serial numbers that the already duplicate star notes have?
Makes me think that this person is creating fake bills. But if someone reads this differently than I, please explain it to me.

Okay, let me make that "really, really not a currency guy". Sorry for adding noise to the discussion. Yeah, I was probably misremembering the $1 star episode. So, no idea... maybe this seller figures having a $2 to match your $1 is still kinda cool, or something? I mean, lots of serial numbers must be matchable across denominations and series, given that they're just more or less sequential numbers. Seems like an odd thing to collect, but I'm hardly one to talk....
My understanding from the description is the seller compiled notes printed in 2017 that match the same Federal Reserve District, and same serial number. The difference being that the valuable duplicate note would be from the 2013 run. There is no added value IMO having the same serial number from different years. It's nothing more than a fabricated novelty.

Looks like the person has too much time on their hands Maybe they were a coin roll hunter that grew out of hauling the heavy boxes The picture looks like it was possibly scanned and that would account for the poor quality photo. If the seller had a $1/$2/$6/$10/$20 ETC... All the same serialized bills for sale, I might be slightly impressed with that.
Don't understand any of this. If you don't have BOTH bills that are matching you have nothing. The photo isn't a star note. So they are claiming a star note exists with that same serial number? Big deal.
But if you eventually *find* the matching with the same serial then it is a big deal. And that possibility exists. So this is the numismatic equivalent of buying a lottery ticket.
