Picked up an album with some coins in it that says it's got the 1970 S large and small but for whatever reason I can never see the difference. Does this look like one of each or is it two large?

Look at the 7 and how it sits compared to the 9 and 0 in the date. You have one of each. Congratulations!

The top one is the small date. Compare the shape of the 9 in both dates. The top 9 has a swirl pointing to the middle of the 7. On the large date, the tail of the 9 points to the bottom of the 7.

Also… the top of the 7 on the top cent looks even with the tops of the 9 and 0 on either side. These are classic tells for the small date. On the large date, the top of the 7 is below the tops of the 9 and 0 on either side.

Go to Lincolncentresource.com to find more corroborating info…Spark

Thanks everyone! I spent way too much time staring at those last night and wanted to double check.

It took me quite some time to tell the difference between the two but now I can spot them immediately. Another tell is the lettering in Liberty on the small date is weaker. Nice Lincolns!
