    It's a 1987 penny and I was wondering what are you guys thinking about this. Is this an error or post mint damage?

    Appears to be a mis-aligned strike. Very common.

    It doesn't look like damage to me but "error" is a very strong word. It's a very interesting piece and I'm impressed you spotted it.
