Yes, large date. Here's my quick trick - if the bottom of the 2 can't fit between the 2 and the rim, it's the large date. One glance and you can ID your coin. Another rule of thumb for me - no one is ever going to find another 1982-D small date copper. If it happens I'll gladly eat my words, but I'm more likely to get struck by lightning, attacked by a great white and hit by a meteor on the same day.

The small date has a fancy 2. The large date has a sloppy 2. The small date has a snowman 8 where the top is very small.
