Did a penny press in the London Science Museum

    Visited the museum and couldn’t resist the penny press machine … especially, we were with friends who had their 4 year old boy along. Did one for me, and the boy and I did one for him. There were several designs available, all related to the museum. I chose Newton’s telescope. This machine was more automated than the one in Salisbury Cathedral. It supplied its own pennies and required a Credit Card for payment. It also “struck” both sides … actually a rotary press. You still must use your muscles to do the pressing. Had to laugh when I saw the Visa charge. Company that owns the machines is named PennyMangle. Mike

    Cool machine! I have a link somewhere that list all the active machines in the U.S and overseas. I'll have to do some research.... Here is one from a trolley museum in Maine....
