Hey everyone! Just got my grades from a recent PCGS submission of US coins I thought worthy of grading. Thought it would be fun to both share the images and do a GTG. I'll admit, I only "correctly" guessed what PCGS would say on ONE out of 13 coins (7/13 times I was too harsh - in fact, sometimes WAY too harsh) so don't worry too much about getting this "right." If you want an extra challenge, see if you can guess the coin I had right! Try not to cheat! Enjoy! (I'll post grades tomorrow morning before I head out to the LCS in search of NEWPS.) Coin 1: 1873 (Open 3) Indian Head Cent Coin 2: 1903 Liberty Nickel Coin 3: 1831 Capped Bust Dime Coin 4: 1856 (Small Date) Seated Liberty Dime Coin 5: 1861 Seated Liberty Dime Coin 6: 1892 Barber Quarter (Tripled Die Reverse) Coin 7: 1937 S Washington Quarter (Doubled Die Obverse)
1873 IHC - MS65 1903 Nickel - MS63 1831 Bust - Unc Details - scratch (not much experience with these) 1856 Seated - AU58 1861 Seated - MS62 1892 Barber - MS63 1937 Wash - MS64 I would guess you got the Indian correct
1873 Cent MS-65 BN 1903 Nickel MS-65 1831 Dime AU-58 1856 Dime MS-64 1861 Dime MS-65 1892 Quarter MS-62 1937 Quarter MS-66
Grades so far (thanks for playing coins with us!) @ksmooter61 - 0/7 (and it was not the IHC I got correct) @Mr. Numismatist 3/7 Don't feel bad about not getting them all - as I mentioned, I only technically got one correct as well.
1873 IHC: MS64RB 1903 Liberty Nickel: MS64 1831 CBD: MS61 1856 Seated Dime: MS62 1861 Seated Dime: AU55 1892 Barber Quarter: MS62 1937 Washington Quarter: MS65 I think you got the Barber correct. Other than the quarter series, I have never collected these coins and have no experience at all with seated coinage. The Barber has the look of a 63/64 but a closeup inspection of the obverse keeps it at MS62 IMO.
1 - MS65RB 2 - MS64 3 - AU55 4 - MS63 5 - MS66+ 6 - MS62 7 - MS65 I think you got the Lib Nickel correct.
