Guys I have been wondering about the coin toning I have been seeing and hearing about lately. I have a 1979 cent (90% copper) in almost BU condition. When you look at the front it has a medium rainbow effect going on. Does this add to value or just something cool to talk about with in your collection?

    For a 1979 Lincoln, it's just cool. It's a different story if it's a 1910 MPL.

Post a picture if you can. That would help. Most likely a small potatoes item.

  5. Definitely cool to talk about. There is a group of collectors who pay a premium for "toners". Look forward to seeing a photo.

Depends on the coin. Old coins that are really collectible adds premium, modern stuff that people dont collect nobody cares :p

Definately something to add to the collection as at least a conversation piece.

The right modern toners get massive massive premiums as well

I just think it looked really cool and once I opened the roll it stood out immediately!

That's a keeper! I have several rolls of toned moderns that I acquired from searching. KEEP HUNTING!
