Walking Liberty with odd date, any value?

    This is a walking liberty that obviously is not in the best condition but the last number of the date is neither a "1" nor a "2," if I had handy those dates it would have been nice to show the contrast in the picture, but most of you are seasoned collectors anyway.

    That stated, the question of value in coins seems to be damage verse mistake, this does not appear to be from damage, but I call upon the experts to help.

    Thank you.

    Welcome to CT. Hope you hang out here and have some fun.
    Your coin looks to be a 1941 with minor damage to the 1.
    The actual value is about the value of the silver.

    Yes, it is poor etiquette to hijack another thread.

    What you should do is click on "Forums" next to "Home" and then scroll down the list to select the appropriate forum. In your case, you should select "What's it Worth". When the next page opens, click on "Start New Thread" at the upper right. Now, a new page will open where you can insert your title and begin typing away in the box below it. Be sure to add photos, where necessary, by clicking on "Upload a File" (Note: When adding images, click on "Full Image") and finally, click on "Post Reply".

    Do not use the "Poll" feature!

    No problem! Newcomers do it all the time.

    The Walker will still carry a premium above melt.
    Melt= 6.32
    Coin= 11.00

    Take another look at what Chris posted. Great directions on how to post a new thread. It's easy once you catch on.

    Really, $11.00. I don't think so.

    Just showing you where I got the price from. I didn't make it up. Often, their prices are on the tad high side retail, but that was the price listed for G-4.
    Personally I put it in the $8-$10 area. So 11 is not that much of a stretch.

    Good luck getting more than scrap for any walker that is G or AG. Too many XF to AU coins around. I get XF to AU regular dates from my local coin shop for $10.00 each any time I want a roll.

    I like this free website. very cool to compare prices from this source, PCGS coin facts, and The Redbook. If you go to an ANA registered retailer you might start from a price of 6 and he at 11, Probably ending up paying about 8.50. That's my experience.

    *Unless the piece is really high grade, rare, or an art round.
