I sometimes have a problem with grading the toned ones too. With me, I love about any toning, but I also won't pay the ridiculous prices that monster-toned Morgans, Peace dollars, and Silver Eagles go for. Especially if I can't begin to grade them. I gotta say, I do like the toned silver Roosevelts. They're really common but because of that, you can get some of the prettiest coins for a really good price, even in MS67.
pair of 1924 peace dollars i picked up for 39 each - he had more that i thou about buying but i didnt want to be greedy
Catching up to July, I ordered three coins but received five. (I'll explain on Thursday...) The first of them was an upgrade to my 1926 cent. Original Replacement Full resolution photos
I ordered the American Women's Quarters to put in a board signed By Kristie McNally, who became acting director of the Mint on March 31, 2025.
This upgrade to my 1941 Lincoln is the third and final coin that I ordered in July. The obverse is free of the unattractive toning that is developing on the original. The color is also richer, and the obverse is smoother. Unfortunately there is a carbon spot on the back, so I'll pop it in the album and not obsess over that. One of today's coin shop pickups. Oddly specific price of $34.56 but it's a quarter, BG-224 and I estimate XF details. I was told it was priced based mostly on the melt value. I don't know which was better, this or the proof sets they had at face value (but $49 in quarters went with the latter).
I rarely buy a detailed coin. But I’m starting to explore some of the Capped Bust fun varieties. This one caught my eye. I couldn’t make out the problem on the seller photos. Thought maybe on the reverse above the eagle. In hand, that’s exactly the scratch. But almost undetectable with my naked eyes. I’m happy, especially at a steep discount. That 9 under the 0 is crazy.
Now that you point out the X, I see it. That could be considered graffitti too. No big deal, these kind of things can make otherwise unaffordable coins attainable. That's one impressive overdate you got there.
more from GC today nothing special and ok buys. i like them they ship fast usually next day . these two helping complete 1936- proof collection.
Got several purchases in the past month. Filling a few gaps in my Morgan collection and upgrading ones I already have. I'm happy with this one, although that mark on the check is holding back this one from grading higher. But this year and mint doesn't grow on trees.
Here's another. Finally found a MS specimen, it's little beat up MS60 in an old ANACS holder. Another coin that was a tough find for the condition and price. I like it, and maybe the opportunity to crossover to a slightly higher grade.
When I ordered the three coins above, the dealer offered me a discount. I wasn’t sure how to do that on eBay, so I just said not to bother. Instead, he added two extra coins to the order to make up for it. Frankly, I thought that was very upright of him. I had no idea what he was going to do. The 1937 Lincoln was better than my existing one, so it went right into the album. The original was a bit cloudy looking, while the new one is clear and a rich red color. It looks MS67 to me; price guide for MS66 is $38, MS67 is $115. Either way this would be worth much more than the original discount. Original The compensatory gift Full resolution photos
If the seller doesn't have the listing buy it now with the make offer option, message them and request he make the option available. From there you both can haggle, offer and counter offer, or just agree to disagree. Its no harm to the seller to do so. He can always refuse. If you put a heart on their listing to bookmark it for later, many times a seller will send you a reduced offer unsolicited.
This 1937-D Lincoln is the second surprise coin from my July order. It also easily surpassed the coin in my set. As you can see, the original was a bit spotty. The 1937 and 37-D easily made up for the discount offered by the dealer in the first place. Original Replacement Full resolution photos
She a beaut! I have two tubes of 2000 ASEs straight from the mint. (40 coins, regular strike) They've only been out of their tubes a few times since I bought them. I have no idea what they are worth, aside from spot. The pricing is all over the place for them.
