Coin shows, your opinion? My first impression from one: grossly overpriced coins

What was the condition of the Balbinus? $800 is certainly reasonable enough for a decent EF example. Was the Clodius Albinus as Augustus perhaps, rather than as Caesar? $500 for a nice example as Augustus would be a bargain.

Balbinus has fairly worn dies and a broken reverse die. That's part of why it went relatively cheap.

 

Like with any investment decision, you have to be patient, and not jump on the first thing you see..

Did you even read my comment before replying? I said not one word about Augustus. I asked if the Clodius Albinus you saw was Clodius Albinus as Caesar or Clodius Albinus as Augustus. Do you understand the distinction?

Then I agree that that coin was indeed overpriced, unless it was truly an FDC wonder coin. No one is likely to dispute that that happens; i.e., that some ancient coins are overvalued some of the time by some dealers.

 

Coin shows are an experience. Go and enjoy them. I wish I could go to more.

 

An aside.........Maybe it's the time of day, but are you guys speaking Russian? Tary not......carry on.

 

It is not important to people filling oneper slots so the price difference in a slab may not be in keeping with the difficulty.
For the benefit of those playing along, I'll ask which of these two Albinus is worth more. Neither are in great shape but we are dealing with my coins here, not slabbers.
